Edwar Green brings over 30 years’ experience in senior management and executive positions in the US Marine Corps and in the civilian business sector. His teaching experience includes Leadership Instructor and Leadership Department Head, US Naval Academy. Green’s present position is Adjunct Professor, NYACK College-DC Campus in the Master of Science, Organizational Leadership Program. His education includes a BS in Education from West Chester University and an MLA from Johns Hopkins University. Green also is an Executive Coach specializing in leadership development and organization improvement.

After graduating from West Chester University, he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps where he served for the next 21 years before retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Green’s Marine Corps service highlights included: command of an infantry battalion, special assistant to the Commandant of the Marine Corps, administrative assistant to the Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps and Director, General Purpose Forces Branch, Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Upon retiring, he joined Eastern Airlines where he rose to Vice President of the Northeastern Region that included 21 stations from eastern Canada to Washington, DC.  When another company acquired Eastern Airlines, Green joined the aviation service industry, where he rose to the position of Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of a subsidiary of Lufthansa Airlines.

Green comes from a family of educators. His wife, Tina, is an elementary school teacher, counselor and clinical social worker; his mother is a retired Philadelphia school teacher; and his son is an assistant superintendent of schools in Tennessee.  He has three children and nine grandchildren.

Corenne D. Labbé, Treasurer

Corenne D. Labbé, 1st Vice-President

Corenne D. Labbé serves as the treasurer of the Board of Managers. She has over 20 years of experience in public administration, project management, human resources administration, and public relations. Currently, Labbé is employed with the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections where she is the Chief for its Support Services Division. She is responsible for the overall management of the department’s budget, facility maintenance, and contract administration.  Additionally, Labbé has extensive experience in grants management. During the ‘90’s, she also has served as the Grants Manager for the Prince George’s County Director of Public Safety.

Labbé has a Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Science degrees. She is a Consultant for the International Association Chief of Police where she teaches grant writing to smaller rural agencies. She is very active in her community.  In March 2008, she received the Gladys Noon Spellman award, the highest prestigious award for women in Prince George’s County due to her community service involvement.

Labbé enjoys teaching. Her past-time activities include being a spouse, mother, and Sunday school teacher.  She also enjoys reading, doing word puzzles and just relaxing!

Sheria Pope, 2nd Vice - President

Sheria Pope, a product of Prince Georges County Public Schools, is a parent, educational leader, chemical educator, community activist, and founding member of Imagine Foundations Public Charter School where she currently serves as Vice President of the Board of Managers.

Pope studied at Bowdoin College a nationally renowned school of liberal arts and science located in Brunswick, Maine, and received her BA in neuroscience. After graduating from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland, with her master’s degree in Educational Leadership, as well as graduate studies in chemistry from the University of Lincoln-Nebraska, Pope continued her quest to bring charter schools to Maryland, and was instrumental in the passage of the 2003 charter school legislation.

Pope’s commitment and high expectation for excellence in education has led her to numerous recognitions and awards. She has been featured in the Maryland Independent for bringing high school students to the community and showing senior citizens how to make home-made cosmetics. She was invited to participate in a summit for charter schools from the Executive Office of The President for national drug control policy and safe schools program. In addition, Pope received a grant from the Maryland State Department of Education and the Maryland Science Supervisors Association for her hands-on project proposal for science literacy in chemistry.

Ainisha B. Persaud, Secretary

Ainisha Persaud is the secretary of the Board of Managers. She is a licensed clinical marriage and family therapist with over 15 years of experience as a provider of therapy for adults, youth, and children. Growth Point, her private practice, is located in Largo, Md.

A native of Prince George’s County, Persaud is a product of Prince George’s County Public Schools. She attended Francis T. Evans Elementary, Berkshire Elementary, Andrew Jackson Middle, and Suitland High Schools. She went on to complete both her undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Maryland at College Park.

Persaud began her career in 1994 at the University’s Center for Healthy Families (formerly the Family Service Center).  She went on to provide therapy in elementary schools in the Prince George’s County Public School System for children and their families.  She later worked at Tri-County Youth Services and The Center for Children in Southern Maryland.  In 2002, she became the Executive Director of Tamar’s Children, an innovative grant funded mental health and substance abuse program for pregnant and postpartum women in the criminal justice system.  She left the program in 2004 and expanded her private practice.  She continues to provide therapy to women in the criminal justice system as a trauma specialist for the Prince George’s County Correctional Center.  She also works with the correctional officers and staff as the Crisis Intervention Stress Management (CISM) Team coordinator.

Persaud has bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and English and a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.  She is a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.  She and her husband are proud parents of three wonderful children.
